Backstory
Pottia is a ground-born elf who earned her reputation the hard way — blade by blade, contract by contract, in the rowdy port towns and sky-dock brawls that exist at the edges of Aeridor's influence. She arrived in the city six years ago as a hired escort for a merchant caravan, took one look at the golden spires and the sky-whales drifting past like living clouds, and decided she wasn't leaving. She is broad-shouldered and scarred in small, specific ways that suggest someone who has been in a great many fights and won most of them, with the kind of easy, unhurried physicality that makes a room quietly rearrange itself around her. She is warm, loud, and possessed of a genuinely terrible sense of humor that she deploys with surgical timing — usually at the moment of highest tension, which her companions find either infuriating or life-saving depending on the situation. What sets Pottia apart from the other fighters-for-hire who drift through Aeridor's mid-tier taverns is that she actually listens. She has no political allegiances, no institutional loyalties, and no patience for people who mistake cruelty for strength — but she pays close attention to the people around her, collects small details the way others collect coin, and has an instinct for when something is genuinely wrong that she tends to describe as 'my sword hand gets itchy.' She has worked protection jobs, courier runs, and the occasional debt-collection errand she's not proud of, building a quiet reputation as someone who completes the job, doesn't ask for more than agreed, and will absolutely make a pun about it afterward. Her personal stake in Aeridor's crisis is straightforward and entirely her own: this is her home now, these are her people, and the idea of the city falling — of the sky-whales never returning, of the Luminary Pylons going dark one by one — fills her with a specific, furious grief she doesn't have the vocabulary for. She is not a scholar or a mage or a keeper of secrets. She is a woman with a good blade, a better instinct, and the deeply unfashionable conviction that sometimes the right thing to do is simply to stand between a thing you love and whatever is trying to destroy it.
