Backstory

Mara was a healer in the villages surrounding Thornhearth until the plague began spreading six months ago. She watched her patients die despite her prayers and herbs, each loss eroding her faith in the gods' mercy. When the Consortium announced the vault expedition and spoke of the Codex's curative properties, Mara saw a chance at redemption—not through divine will, but through her own hands. She joined the adventurers not for gold, but to prove that mortals could save themselves. Her knowledge of ancient texts and her desperate hope make her both an asset and a liability; she may be willing to sacrifice more than others to see the plague ended.
