Backstory

Maximum earned his name the hard way—by surviving every contract, every betrayal, every bloodied battlefield the Kingdom of Vethis could throw at him. Once a common soldier in Charlun's army, he deserted after witnessing war-mages burn an entire village for sport, taking the name Maximum as a bitter joke about his refusal to serve tyranny ever again. For five years he's hired his blade to whoever paid best: rebels, court nobles, even Circle agents. He's learned that loyalty is a luxury, but survival is a skill. Now, with the Crown stolen and the kingdom fracturing, Maximum sees opportunity—and danger. The smart play is to stay neutral, take contracts from all sides, and live long enough to profit. But he's seen too much blood spilled for nothing, and he's not sure he can keep pretending he doesn't care.
