Prologue

The Kingdom of Vethis bleeds. For two decades, the Sorcerer-King Charlun has ruled with an iron fist, his war-mages enforcing his twisted will. But now, whispers of rebellion clash with the screams of the tortured, and the Crown of Vethis—source of Charlun's power—has been stolen. Without the Crown, the land decays, magic twisting into blight. Charlun’s court descends into infighting, and those who suffer under his reign dare to dream of freedom. But the Crown holds power, and power corrupts. Who will claim it, and what future awaits Vethis?
