Blood Dragon
Slay the colossal red dragon Ignareth before his fire consumes the last of the northern kingdoms.
About this adventure
In the frost-bitten peaks of the Kelvaran Range, where glaciers grind against ancient stone and storms howl like mourning gods, there dwells a terror older than the kingdoms of men. Ignareth the Undying — a colossal red dragon of such magnitude that his wingspan blots out the winter sun — has awakened from a century of slumber with a rage none can explain. His breath has turned three highland villages to cinders. His roar has shaken the mountain passes so violently that the only road through the Kelvarans has collapsed, severing the northern kingdoms from their southern allies as war looms on every border. The High King of Valdremor, desperate and out of options, has issued the Ashen Crown Decree: any warrior, mage, rogue, or wanderer who can slay Ignareth and return with proof of the deed shall receive lands, titles, and a fortune in gold enough to sustain three generations. But those who have attempted the climb have not returned. Their armor has been found melted into the ice. Their horses found headless at the base of Ignareth's peak — a mountain the locals call Emberspire. Yet something darker stirs beneath the surface of this quest. Ignareth did not simply wake from hunger. Ancient draconic runes have been found carved into the ice around Emberspire — runes that match no known mortal language. Whispers among scholars suggest someone, or something, woke the dragon deliberately. The real question is not merely how to kill a god-sized fire drake on a frozen mountain — but why he was set loose, and by whose hand.
Prologue
The ash started falling three days ago. It drifts down from the north like grey snow, settling on rooftops and filling water barrels with a bitter, metallic taste. No one in the village says the word out loud, but everyone knows what it means — something ancient has woken inside the mountain, and it is angry. The roads north are gone. Travelers who tried to cross the passes came back burned or didn't come back at all. The king has offered everything he has to anyone willing to climb, but the mountain keeps swallowing volunteers whole. You are here now, at the edge of the world, watching smoke curl above the distant peak. Whatever brought you this far, there is no going back.
