Backstory

Meredith has spent twenty years as the Gravediggers' Guild's archivist and bone-reader, cataloging the dead and deciphering the patterns written in their remains. Once a scholar of the city's pre-Ravenmoor history, she abandoned academic life after discovering references to the Pallid Court in sealed archives—knowledge that cost her position and nearly her life. She joined the Guild not for coin, but to stay close to forbidden secrets. Now, as the curse deepens, Meredith realizes the dead are trying to speak to her through their placement, their wounds, their final resting positions. She suspects the original pact's architect may be entombed somewhere in the catacombs, and the Guild's maps are her only key to finding them before the Council's desperation leads to bloodshed.
