Backstory

Umi was a spirited painter and kayaker from the waking world—someone who chased beauty in both canvas and wilderness, never staying still long enough to be pinned down by convention or expectation. A sudden storm on the river shattered that freedom. The kayak capsized, water flooded her lungs, and consciousness fractured. She woke not in a hospital bed but in the Elysian Meadow, where the impossible became routine and an angel named Lin became her anchor to existence. Now, caught between the luminous peace of this dream realm and the fading memory of the life she left behind, Umi discovers that love might be the only force capable of bridging two worlds—or the reason she loses everything.
