Prologue

The Elysian Meadow exists in the spaces between heartbeats—a realm of impossible beauty suspended between dreaming and death. Luminescent flowers shift colors with emotion; crystalline waterfalls flow upward into starlit skies; the air tastes of rain and old music. Here, time moves differently, and reality bends to the shape of memory and longing. Souls linger in this threshold place, tended by guardian angels who stand vigil at the edges where shadow encroaches. But something is changing. The Hollow Devourers—ancient shadow-creatures that feed on fear and despair—are growing bolder, hungrier. And a new consciousness has awakened in the Meadow: a spirited artist whose body lies comatose in the waking world, tethered to both life and death by a thread so thin it might snap at any moment. This soul is not meant to linger here. Yet the guardian assigned to guide them toward peace finds themselves unwilling to let go. Love and sacrifice, awakening and surrender—these forces now collide in the Meadow, and the ancient rules that have held for eons begin to crack. The question is no longer whether this soul will survive, but what price both the living and the dead are willing to pay for a love that defies all boundaries.
