Backstory

Vala grew up in the borderlands between civilization and wild magic, raised by her mother—a disgraced priestess of the Church of the Eternal Bond who fled after questioning the Church's true motives. Her mother taught her to read ley lines and tend the land's wounds, but died under mysterious circumstances five years ago, leaving Vala only a cryptic journal and a medallion bearing the Church's seal. Now, Vala survives by offering her services as a healer and fortune-teller to villages and merchants, always searching for answers about her mother's death. When she learned the Starfall would occur at the Celestial Pinnacle—the very location her mother's journal obsessively referenced—Vala knew she had to go. She seeks not love or power, but truth: what secret was her mother protecting, and why did the Church want her silenced?
