About this adventure

Manhattan is burning itself alive. Sirens wail, bridges buckle under stampeding thousands, and somewhere above the skyline, the clock is already running. A family separated in the chaos of a collapsing bridge must find each other — and find the forest — before the sky turns white. Play as Calliope, a crisis counselor fighting back through the wreckage of the city she lost her family in; Merritt, a structural engineer who got two of his children across but couldn't hold onto his wife; or Sable Voss, a disaster cartographer who predicted all of this and must now survive the map she drew.

Prologue

The warhead is already falling. Manhattan has known panic before — blackouts, storms, the particular electricity of eight million people pressed together under pressure. But this is different. This is the sound of a species recognizing its own ending: car horns layered into a single unbroken scream, the crack of storefront glass, strangers running in the same direction for reasons they can't fully articulate except that standing still feels like dying. The George Washington Bridge's lower level is gone. A truck jackknifed in the crush, the load shifted, and the structure answered with a sound like the earth clearing its throat. People were separated in the surge — families, hands, promises. The Hudson sits cold and indifferent between the borough and the tree line, and the tree line is the only thing that matters now. Somewhere in the Ramapo Mountains, there is forest thick enough to absorb a shockwave. Somewhere on these streets, people who love each other are moving in the dark, not knowing if the others are still breathing. The clock does not pause for grief. It never does.
