The Reactor
The power grid is failing. The Null Zone is expanding. And salvation lies in a place where reality itself is broken.
About this adventure
Seventy years after civilization collapsed, humanity survives in the shadow of massive reactor complexes—the only shield against the Null Zones, where radiation warps flesh and time moves wrong. The Meridian Reactor, which has powered your settlement for generations, is dying. Its AI core has begun an irreversible shutdown sequence. In weeks, the electromagnetic shield will fail, and the contaminated zone will swallow everything. There is one desperate hope: an Archive buried in the heart of the Null Zone, rumored to contain the fuel cells that could save the reactor—if anyone can retrieve them and survive what waits in the darkness. Play as a guilt-ridden reactor technician seeking redemption, or a salvage expert determined to prove that humanity can still master a broken world.
Prologue
Seventy years have passed since the grid collapsed, and with it, civilization as it was known. Now humanity clings to existence in scattered settlements orbiting massive automated reactor complexes—colossal machines that stand as both savior and jailer, their electromagnetic shields the only barrier between the safe zones and the Null Zones beyond. In these contaminated lands, radiation has twisted matter and time into something alien. Reality bends. The laws of physics are merely suggestions. And something dwells there—something that might once have been human, or might have been something else entirely. They call them the Echoes. The Meridian Reactor has hummed with steady purpose for generations, feeding power to the settlement that grew up in its shadow. But now, its systems are failing. The AI core has initiated a controlled shutdown sequence that cannot be stopped—only delayed or accelerated. In three weeks, perhaps less, the electromagnetic shield will collapse. The Null Zone will expand like a slow-spreading stain, and the settlement will be swallowed. Evacuation is possible, but scattered, desperate. Survival is uncertain. But there is another path. Deep in the heart of the contaminated zone lies the Pre-Collapse Archive—a vault of the old world, sealed and forgotten. The rumors speak of reactor-grade fuel cells stored within, enough to restore the Meridian to full capacity. Enough to buy time. Enough, perhaps, to save everything. The Settlement Council has authorized the expedition, though not without dissent. The Scavenger Guilds demand payment for their knowledge of the routes. The Remnant Church preaches that this is divine judgment and rescue is blasphemy. And somewhere in the electromagnetic static and the twisted landscape, the Echoes are listening. You have been chosen for this run. The reactor's fate—and the settlement's—now rests in your hands. The question is not whether you will go into the Null Zone. The question is what you will find there, and what price you will be willing to pay.

Scavenger Guilds
Human (Baseline) · Information Broker / Faction Leader
Shrewd information brokers who control access to salvage routes and archaeological data; they profit from scarcity and know far more about the Null Zone than they publicly admit.

Echoes
Null Zone Entity (origin unknown—possibly mutated human, possibly something else) · Oracle/Harbinger
A fractured collective consciousness dwelling in the Null Zone—part oracle, part prisoner, part saboteur. Some Echoes aid the adventurers; others work toward the reactor's demise. No one knows which voice speaks when Echoes communicate.

Meridian Settlement Council
Human (mixed survivors) · Collective Authority
A fractured governing body of seven representatives, divided between those who believe in a desperate Archive run and those advocating evacuation before the reactor fails.

Remnant Church
Human (Baseline) · Cult Leader / Saboteur
A zealous non-binary cult leader who believes the reactor's death is divine judgment and sabotages rescue efforts through manipulation, misinformation, and covert followers embedded throughout the settlement.

Lennon
Human (baseline) · Reactor Technician

Lena
Human (baseline) · Salvage Technician
