Backstory

Kess was a factory floor supervisor in the Cogworks until a steam-pipe rupture cost him his left arm—the Technocratic Council offered her a chrome replacement as compensation, turning his into a walking advertisement for their synthetic superiority. He’s spent five years as a corporate security contractor, but the jobs have grown morally toxic. When he stumbled onto whispers of the Aetheric Core's instability, he realized the Council knew all along and let workers die in "accidents" rather than shut down production. Now he’s burning his last contact with a black-market fixer to get close to the truth—and to decide if Cyberville deserves saving or burning.
