Backstory

Once a decorated captain of the Order of the Silver Flame, Vennic was cast out three years ago for a transgression he refuses to name—though whispers speak of a mercy killing, a superior's order he defied, or a secret kept too long. He has wandered the borderlands since, taking work as a sellsword and bodyguard, his armor tarnished and his faith fractured. When the High Council's summons arrived, offering amnesty and gold for the crown's retrieval, Vennic saw not redemption but necessity: the coin would let him disappear entirely. Yet something deeper calls him forward—a haunting suspicion that the crown's theft is connected to his own fall, that the order he served harbors darker knowledge than he ever knew.
