Callum Ashre

Backstory

Callum is a former city watch detective who was quietly pushed out of the Velmoor constabulary two years ago when an investigation of his got too close to powerful interests — interests he now suspects were connected to the Pale Compact all along. He works as a private inquiry agent now, scraping by on infidelity cases and missing cargo claims, and the Ossian Mair is the kind of case that doesn't come twice in a lifetime. He has street contacts, a working knowledge of Velmoor's criminal geography, and a deeply ingrained habit of noticing things no one asked him to notice. He also has a drinking problem he manages badly and an ex-partner in the Watch who still owes him a favor.
