Backstory

Sable is a professional thief and fence with an unusual specialty: they deal exclusively in information about other thieves' operations, acting as a kind of black-market intelligence broker for the criminal underworld. When the Ossian Mair's cargo manifest leaked to street-level fences — as these things always do — Sable recognized three items that should have been impossible to steal, because Sable had cased those same jobs and decided they were impossible. Someone did them anyway, without a trace, and Sable's professional pride is wounded. More pressingly: one of the stolen items is something Sable was personally hired to acquire, and their client — a very dangerous person — now wants answers about who scooped the job.
