Backstory

Maren is the daughter of Captain Edric Voss, who was declared dead six months ago when the Ossian Mair vanished. She spent those months grieving, settling her father's affairs, and fighting the Harren Shipping Company's attempts to underpay the death benefit — and now her father has drifted back into harbor alive, blank-eyed, and holding stolen goods. She is not an investigator by training; she is a woman with a ledger-keeper's mind, a sailor's stubbornness, and a very personal stake in the truth.
