Backstory

Vael is a junior cleric of a minor death-adjacent deity — her faith concerns itself with proper burial, peaceful passing, and the line between the living and the dead that must not be crossed. She was sent by Cralwick's temple not because she is the most powerful, but because she is the only one willing to go underground. She carries a quiet certainty about what she believes and a private terror that what's down there will test it.
