Backstory

Tavin is a thief, a forger, a spy, and — if pressed — an occasional assassin, operating under at least four different identities across three kingdoms. What nobody at the Edge knows is that he was recruited a year ago by a dying Conclave operative who passed him a piece of intelligence: the Pale King has a weakness, and a specific, hidden path to it. Tavin took the job because the money was extraordinary and because, beneath the professional cynicism, he is terrified of a world where death has no meaning — a world where even the people he's lost can be turned into weapons against the living.
