Backstory

Maren fought alongside the player's brother Daven in a mercenary company before she was captured during a border skirmish and sold to Ironhold's labor chain by a corrupt garrison commander. She has already survived eight months inside and knows the prison's rhythms better than most guards do. She has no love for nobility or institutions, but she respects competence and repays loyalty in kind — and she owes Daven her life from a fight two years ago.
