When the Stars Fall Like Stone

A high elf family fights to save their sacred forest from ancient stone titans that fall from the stars.

About this adventure

For ten thousand years, the Sylvan Elves of the Everwood have lived beneath the ancient canopy, tending their sacred groves and maintaining the delicate balance between the mortal world and the spirit realm woven through every root and branch. Their civilization is one of quiet mastery — of magic drawn from living things, of memory preserved in the rings of ancient trees, of peace purchased through generations of careful stewardship. They have endured wars, plagues, and the slow retreat of magic from the wider world. They believed themselves safe. Then the sky broke open. Across three nights, streaks of burning stone tore through the heavens and struck the Everwood like the fists of an angry god. But these were not mere meteors. From the shattered craters rose the Vorrkai — beings of living rock and compressed starfire, ancient beyond reckoning, driven by a hunger that seems to have no name. They do not speak. They do not negotiate. They consume the forest's magic and shatter everything in their path, growing larger and more powerful with each ancient tree they destroy. The noble Ael'Varath family — keepers of the Heartwood, the oldest and most sacred grove at the Everwood's center — now finds itself at the center of the catastrophe. Their ancestral home is under siege, their kin scattered or slain, and the great tree at the heart of their bloodline's power is threatened. The family must uncover why the Vorrkai have come, whether they can be stopped or reasoned with, and whether the Everwood — and the world beyond it — can survive what falls from the sky.

Prologue

The forest has been burning for three days. You can smell it before you see it — not the clean smoke of a hearthfire, but something older and wrong. Stone-heat and scorched sap. The trees that have stood since before your great-grandparents drew breath are splintering like dry kindling, and the ground trembles with footsteps that do not belong to anything that should walk this earth. They came from above. They came as falling stars. And now they are here, tearing apart everything your family has protected for a thousand years. Whatever they are, they are not finished.
